You can play metal with any guitar. Your tone just might not be as metal-y as you want though. And it depends on if you can play metal at all, or have any intentions of learning

If your question is: Is it possible to play metal with that bass? yes. Will it sound metally? probably not.

Alright then. Either find one and play it and see if you think it sounds "Metal" to you. Or just assume that bassists in metals bands use "certain" brands and pedals for a reason.

I do it with a strat! Just because your bass may not sound like a metal bass player's would doesn't mean you can't play metal on it.
I have too much gear to fit!

I haven't tried that Epi, but I'm not a fan of short-scales.

As I said, I love my Artcore bass and play plenty of metal on it.
