Inspired by "How I Hate Football".

I'm hearing lately that things are getting out of hand with "hooligans" in the U.K. That got me thinking of how I rarely see that kind of thing in the U.S. At least from my point of view, there doesn't seem to be any hooligan-ism (yeah, I like that word :p going on. I do live in a small town though, so that could be it.

I ask for any stories, insight, or comparisons of American and U.K. vandals!

People take their football a lot more seriously in Europe than Americans take their football. I can guarantee that. I have lived in both places.

In 2005, the Battle of the Valley happened Everton v Man Utd. My second season where I had a season ticket. After the match both firms met up in Everton Valley. The fighting was amazing...

I haven't heard much about hooliganism lately, but it doesn't surprise me. Fuck football.
I play by my own rules. And I have one rule; There are no rules... but if there are, they're there to be broken. Even this one.

Confused? Good.

Ever tried going to a Derby Vs Forest match?

Don't.

I want to, I support Derby.

I say support but I mean I don't care about football, but if I had to choose a team...

It is when the most important thing you can think of in your life is a freaking football club, common lads, get a tattoo of your children, or your wife, or your car even for Pete´s sake, but not a darn football club!

Pah! It is surely a person's own choice to get a tattoo of whatever they want, is it not?

sports are not my thing and i think its a really stupid thing to go out and throw a brick over, that doesnt mean there isnt stupid crimes here in america, we have gang wars where people shoot eachother over stupid things like race and what colors their wearing, also we have guns here so one "hooligan" armed with a tec 9 can take out like 5 innocent people by accident were as with fist fights its a bit harder for people to get caught in the crossfire.

Benidorm is more English than most big cities these days.

Seriously, the whole thing is getting out of hand, I mean, I was nearly stabbed today because someone I was with had a Bristol City top on. Ridiculous if you ask me.

TS, football hooliganism in the UK is pretty much non existant nowdays aside from snide SI wearing football factory watching little kids and the occasional small youth firm, so whoever told you that its getting worse is really exadurating. Football Hooliganism reached its peak in the 1970s and the 1980s, it was killed off by the commercialisation of english football in the 90s and ecstacy.

Quote by jmilli2
The hooligans aren't real fans anyway. Most of them don't even care about watching the game. It's like fight club with a football background.

So wrong. Hooligans are miles better fans than the corporate dullards that fill the stadiums of most premiership teams.
#23
^I agree with you saying there are more Youth firms now than there are normal ones, all because they wanted to be doing what they saw in Football Factory and Green Street etc. It is pretty pathetic, but what jmilli2 said, he is right that they don't even care about the game any more, they go to the games for the action afterwards.

Had to get that out of my system.

Anyway, if soccer was a contact sport like Rugby, then the fans would have had all the violence they need.

I was in ibiza when spain won the euro thingywhatsit, and i have to say the atmosphere was amazing, there was nothing violent, everyone was happy, people in German shirts were being laughed at rather than beaten down. I think that if England were ever to win such a tournament it would not be in such good faith, but obviously that's just speculation
