Is this a "take an ethnic group and add it to a proper genre to make a stupid sounding sub-genre" thread?

Because I'd like some reccomendations for Inca metal.

Erm, yeah. Gogol are pretty much where it's at.

I'm quite into Aztec Screamo Jazz myself right now...

Aztec Screamo Jazz is great but you gotta go with Polish progressive melodic death pop with Chinese influences.

I like Gogol Bordello, dont really know of anyone else.

Flatfoot 56 are good, but they remind me more like pirates.

I thought Gogol Bordello invented the term gypsy punk to describe themselves in that they are Roma... Who the **** else does that apply to?

what's the point in being "philiosophical"?

Interesting question...

okay... i'll rephrase this in an attempt to make myself sound less douchebaggy

i've heard that there are a bunch punk bands that go around the world the way that gypsies used to, and in certain places still do. and playing shows.

this is something that is incredibly appealing to me, and i want to become a part of that subculture...

and i've only heard of a few bands, like gogol bordello, and a few very local bands, and i was wondering if anyone knew of the rest of them.

Eugene Hutz said in an interview that he invented the term so that American critics would not label them in the wrong genre. But bands after Gogol Bordello could be gypsy punk too, since the genre name was created by Eugene himself.

I saw them at Coachella it was awesome... did anyone else?

I've seen Gogol, but millions of people have. They're so much better live than on the albums.

DeVotchKa?

Personally I think Devotchka is far too mellow to be considered punk,
but I definitely see the gypsy part.
