I am faced with the possible reality of dating someone with a terminal illness who may not live past their 30's....

This isn't a relationship thread question, this is a matter of would you, or would you not take this chance at love.

its simple.

poll to come.

If you really love her/him then definitely go for it. Real, true love does not come around very often.

I think the real question here is

"is she hot?"

seriously though, Yes.
30 years is still a ways in the future for me.
And whats the harm in dating anyway? I'm pretty sure all dates I've ever had have not been life long commitments yet.

i'd have to say yes, but it depends if at the end of the day you can deal with the pain of losing them when they go.

We seem to enjoy eachothers company and have "started" the dating process and then she told me, I'm a tad wigged out ya know. I'm just worried about the pain of losing her if I did fall in love.

If it's contagious, no. If it's not, yes.

Nope, guess I'm incredibly shallow but that puts me off them totally, wouldn't be able to find them sexually attractive.

I would, we'll all die someday. I'm always ready to give a fellow human being a shot.

Well, you shouldn't deprive her of happiness just because she won't live as long as you (There's always the chance you'll die unexpectedly anyway).

Yes.

It's a simple question: would you care more for her, or for you?

If you care about her more, then you are willing to put yourself through that pain to make sure that she's happy for her whole life.

And there's a chance that a medical breakthrough could save her, anyway. So, yes.
#32
it depends. . . if it's catchable, no, I wouldn't, if it doesn't affect her, like. . on the outside, then sure.

But make sure you don't get too attached.
#33
If I truely made them happy by being there for them in their last few days, then yes.

i know this sounds terrible, but i could never do it. i pray to god all the time that i go before my girlfriend (who i do plan on marrying) because i would just crumble the day she died. i love her more than anything in the world and to loose something like that should be a once in a lifetime thing (unless u dont plan on marrying again, but at the age of 30? thats a stretch...).

+1, one of the smartest things I've read today. Good job, Jackal.

We all die one day, hers has just been predicted as sooner than most. If you really have feelings for her, then that shouldn't have any affect on your decision. Just be sure that you're ready to lose her one day if it goes that far.
