Had a Warwick Corvette $$ shipped to me I found on guitar center's website, used, in CA, and I'm in MA. Talk to the salesperson on the phone, and the only flaws he described, when asked, were some belt buckle scratches on the back.

Get the bass, and it's got a nice little chip right on the front body, with the surrounding finish a little faded, like there was a sticker there or something.

I'm in sales, and I've never done crap like this to people. If the f'n guy just told me about it, I still would have bought it, and wouldn't have thought much about it.

Oh well, it's a $1700 bass brand new, I got it for $799. I think it's a good deal. Just a stupid rant on bad salespeople.

Oh yea...thing plays/sounds SICK!!! Love this thing!

It was packaged very well, there was no way it happened in shipping. They had it in a box inside a box, surrounded by air-filled plastic bags.

I do not understand how that could be done by UPS. Shipping-based destruction is usually due to undue amounts of force on certain parts, resulting in snapped headstocks, necks, or horns. To get a stab wound on a bass would mean that it was forced against something sharp during shipping (which it wasn't if it was in a hardshell case) or it was damaged pre-shipping.

EDIT: Oh, heres a small trick. Use black nailpolish to cover the nick up, noone will notice.

Cool, thanks. I was trying to think of what I could cover it up with that wouldn't look bad. I'll give that a shot.

I actually just bought a $$ as well. Should be here within a week. Got it on ebay for $810 and that mutha****a better look exactly like the pictures when it arrives or I'm killing somebody. I don't deal with guitar center for used instruments anymore. They have ****ed me around too many times. It's not like ebay isn't risky also, but so far I have had pretty positive experiences with it. However, hands down, the best way to buy used instruments or musical equipment of any kind is through craigslist. I almost can't recommend it enough. I picked up my Warwick Corvette fretless and my Ampeg rig through craigs and got very good deals. And you really can't put a price on being able to see the bass up close and test it out before you buy it.
I got in everyone's hostile little face. Yes, these are bruises from fighting. Yes, I'm comfortable with that. I am enlightened.

leave it there. it's a badge of war. use clear polish if you feel the wood needs protection.

basses need no plastic surgery.

I feel you should do something about this though. At least get that guy fired. Or maybe get some rebate.

And might I add that your bass is stunning.

That looks more like a dent that develops from years of slapping the crap out of a bass. I think it gives a bass character.

i say leave it, i think a players instrument should age with the player. scratches and dents are part of life. i wish you all the best, play the **** out of that thing until it looks nothing like it should
