I realized that the Pit reads a lot more than I thought (apart from Cobain_is_king who openly admits he cannot read )
so, why not take recommendations and ask for new ones in the Pit?

So how this works? I guess we can recommend certain people certain books, depending on what they are reading now, or what they are interested in.

I like adventure, and some science fiction. I'm a slow reader, but does anyone have any recommendations?

Lee Child's books are great, start with the first one (Killing Floor) and work through them!

I enjoy books about rock stars and what not, although, not necessarily autobiographies of rock stars. I read the book Espedair Street by Ian Banks and enjoyed it greatly, so if anyone knows of any similar books to that I'd love to know...

I've wondered about Eric Clapton's autobiography, and also I've read Heavier than Heaven, read it if you enjoy Nirvana or grunge.
also, I haven't read slash's thingy, dunno if its good.

It's alright. Very very gritty and dirty. Not the best book out there but if the story of Slash and Guns N Roses interests you you'll like it.

Anyone read any Orson Scott Card? I read Seventh Son a few years ago along with Ender's Game and loved 'em. Right now I'm reading Empire by Orson Scott Card, it's pretty interesting.

Also, if anyone is looking for some funny books check out Side Effects and Getting Even by Woody Allen. Both are very funny.

**high five** Douglas Adams is awesome. If you like science fiction I got two names for you: Frank Herbert and Robert Heinlein. There are many more but I gotta keep it simple or risk ranting. Heinlein's books are usually pretty short and quick to read through, and very stimulating. Herbert's are usually really long but definitely worth the read, he brought literary greatness to science fiction and his series Dune is widely considered the only rival to the supremacy of Lord of the Rings in the science fiction/fantasy field.

EDIT: And I'm currently reading F. Scott Fitzgerald's "The Beautiful and Damned". Goddamn that guy could write. Its like a poem in novel form.

^ No problem man. I've read a bunch a Kerouac. Desolation Angels, and Big Sur were both very good as well.

yeah man, I was disappointed that he died before he could be a big part of making the Hitchhiker's movie. It was alright if you ask me but would have been so much better had he been there for it.

Haven't read Salmon of Doubt. I'm afraid the incompleteness of it will drive me mad with speculation. It was supposed to be a Dirk Gently novel, right?

I recommend the book "Blink" by Malcolm Gladwell and "This is your brain on music" by Daniel J. Levitin. Both very good books.

I bought Eric Clapton and Anthony Keitis' autobiography with those but havn't gotten to reading them yet.

well its divided into 3 parts, 2 of the 3 are great, they're just like short stories/memories/diaries that he made, but the last part is the continuation of the Gently novel, i went crazy when it ended right where the good parts began but the first 2 sections are well worth the read.

Short stories? I've never read any shorts by him, I bet they are awesome! You've convinced me to pick it up next time I see it.
