does any one else think that Strats and LP's are cliche??
just about everyone has one

i personaly hate those shapes and i would never buy one

i mean dont get me wrong they do have some really nice strats and lp's that sound amazing but i just personaly think that those body styles are so over done

do you agree??

Edit:
STOP telling me that cliche is the wrong word!!

it DOES work in this situation,
this is the definition i pulled from merriam-webster's dictionary

Cliche

1: a trite phrase or expression; also : the idea expressed by it
2: a hackneyed theme, characterization, or situation
3: something that has become overly familiar or commonplace

^i believe that works with this situation^

Gretsch.

i dont get it??

you like gretsch's, or think they're cliche??

well you could say that about most guitar shapes, as they all have their share of rip-offs and such, so no, i don't really think that any guitar shape is any more cliche than another

Strats are Cliche, but then again I find Flying V's cliche also. But I guess, the overall shape of the Strat is kinda.....over used?

Cliche is defenitly not the word you were looking for. Try common or popular or abundant or something like that. Not cliche.

They're not "cliche," they're good guitars. And I tend to take more into consideration than "shape" when guitar-shopping.

You know. Other trivialities, like sound, and comfort.

Cliche: A phrase, expression, or idea that has been overused to the point of losing its intended force or novelty.

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
I simply cannot take this god-awful place anymore. Goodbye to all the good people here. The rest can fuck off.

no...cliche is pretty much right...everybody and their mom has a strat style or LP style guitar...its annoying like ****

Who in their right mind would talk bad about Gretsch's?

I own several of both strats and an LP's and I agree.
I'm most comfortable with LP's....But I don't like outrageous shapes either, and i'm not going to buy a guitar i don't like just to be different

He has a point, you now.

It's sorta like Nazis. Hitler was the biggest cliche in history with those leather boots and tight pants.

Wait, I don't think I'm using that right..

i dont like LP's that much.

Strats are nice though. i like the simple, classic look they have.
#22
Look at the features of the body and you will know why they are popular.
Strat- stability, comfort, cutaway for frets, tone
Les Paul-Sustain,comfort, stability, tone
Those are pretty much the basics of every strat or lp style guitar. There is more to it though. SGs could be considered what you call "cliche" (wrong use) too, and any hollowbody or archtop or acoustic without the cutaway or with the standard cutaway like an lp. But its what works best with the guitar.
