I'm in a similar position to you.
I've been playing around 3 years and i've just been learning songs 80% of the time.

Would be nice if someone helped point me in the right direction actually, because i wouldn't know where to start now with all this theory
#6
find someone to teach you theory otherwise work on learning techniques to add to your playing...oh and write your own stuff even if it serves as nothing more than to track your progress.
#7
if you dont have on get a tutor
then spend all the time with your tutor learn scales and the like
then rest of your time use them practice them and learn songs and the like

Go look up the Vertical Vs. Horizontal improvement lesson on UG. That should explain it all.

And to TS. Try doing a little bit of both. Song learning may improve your dexterity and broaden your musical skill and scales and theory will make you a better musician.

REALLY?

damn the computer, Ill even take a picture of it (print screen) and post it on photobucket and stick it here.
When I wrote practising, it underlines it saying it is incorrect...or practise for that matter.

Oh and sorry

Wait, my computer has never "linked" with another computer before, so there is no possible way it could have gotten E-AIDS.

It is only transferable by direct contact!

Ultimately, you want to play what you enjoy rather than what will make you better to get the most out of your guitar playing. I just play songs.

Anyway I define practicing as anytime I'm playing, or doing book work(looking at internet lessons) on theory.
