I was thinking about this for some quite time. Yes, they were heavy, but a lot of hardcore and hard rock is heavy. The lyrics in Pantera usually doesn't reflect that of the heavy metal image and Dimebag usually plays in the pentatonic scale(for this reason I got so many telling Guns n' Roses isn't metal because they play this scale). Can someone explain why or why not they were metal?

Kirk Hammet uses the the pentatonics basically all the time. Are METALlica not metal now?

yeah, metallica aren't metal either, oh, i almost forgot about slayer, they're definitely not metal, and dimebag? nah he didn't look at all like he was in a metal band, and Phil Anselmo? yeah he sang choir all the time in Pantera.
Did anyone see the sarcasm there?

Don't know what to say about the replies, I was basically told that metal is closer into classical music and it is different from hard rock because hard rock uses the pentatonic scale. That is why I asked this question, no need to bury me with insults.

Ever heard Cowboys from hell? The main riff is based on the blues scale. (They probably have more songs using that scale, but I'm not really into them xD)

Oh, you wanted me to elaborate on it? I just gave a jist

They are bluegrass influenced trip-hop, with a pinch of dance, and an obvious fusion of Opera and Android-Rap infused. Furthermore, they draw a big Pokemon influence as well as a Clint Eastwood influence. They have Wafflecore and pancakeshuffle elements.
