Sure. Adam Jones from Tool used a bass amp. hell... the Fender BASSMAN was a bass amp, and then people started using it with electric guitars.

The thing is, bass speakers have more frequency range than a guitar speaker, but weaker mid frequencies. They will put out all the frequencies, but it will sound different.

It depends, the Marshall JTM45, 1986 and 100 watt superbass are all amazing guitar amplifiers.
