Is it possible to access another comp in my house if they are on the same router? I need to transfer a couple albums that I don't have on this comp and I would rather not waste the discs to burn them.

So is there a way to access my other computer's files through the router the computers are on?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

yes it is possible, easiest way it to open Network Places, and click workgroup computers on the left hand side.

alternatively, get the IP address, and go Start->Run->\\*ip address*

like a wireless linksys router? Not totally sure, I think you have to mess with the ports.

But if it is a generic wired one just plug them in and put them on the same network.

It's really easy. Share the folder with the music, Access the folder from the other computer. Google it. I guarantee there is a tutorial.

Wow @ people suggesting jump drives instead. No way. Networking is so much more advantageous... Yeah, it's really simple. The only problem you might bump into is if one is XP and the other is Vista.

They are both XP, could ya tell me what I need to know?

Let's see, if I wanted to learn about how to share a folder what would I search for? I suppose I would search for "How to share a folder", nah that's too obvious.
