I buy electric strings for it but I hate the sound, I have to pluck fairly hard to get a "hearable" note which just about always sounds off, even after retuning it over and over(since I'm a beginner, tuning takes me about 30 minutes with my tuner). I bought this $80 first guitar out of a mailorder magazine that said it was electric and came with a built-in amp, which may have been a mistake. I thought amps=instant rock sound, i never heard of distortion or pedals or overdrive or anything like that until a few days ago since I joined U-G.com

I bought an 15 watt Amp (Squier Champ 15) with a cable which cost me bout 40 bucks, the cable jack broke off one end 2 days after I bought it, so i havent used the amp since, which was about 4 months ago (amp kinda dusty right now >_<

If the picture is too dark, There's a speaker in place of a soundhole that hollow acoustic guitars have.. which I have never seen on any guitar before but mine..

Could it possibly be acoustic-electric? I heard of those yesterday.

Please don't flame me its my 2nd post

I see that you have a no brand guitar

Because everytime someone ask me what kind of guitar I have, I can't answer them since I don't know what it really is. I always just say Les Paul since looks like one, is it an off brand one also?

I don't even think it's a full size guitar, it just looks like a travel guitar, hence the built in speaker. The amp and speaker will make it louder but those things never sound very good, they're just for fun really. It's sort of strat shaped, but it doesn't look even remotely like a Les Paul so I'm not sure where you got that from.
Actually called Mark!

Sell it all and go out and buy yourself a starter pack.

Hey man, that guitar is a knock off Fender Stratocaster electric guitar with a built in speaker and I'm sorry to say but you may have wasted your money. The guitar doesn't look full size and I bet it doesn't sound too good or play well for that matter. What I suggest you do is try to sell it and save up enough cash for at least a Squier or Epiphone guitar. At least those guitars are decent enough to get a good start on. Trust me I had a no name guitar when I was like 13 (a longtime ago) and I hated it and stopped playing but about a year ago my girlfriend got me a Fender standard Telecaster and to this day I play it everyday. A better guitar will inspire you to play longer. Also on the amp thing I would probably want to upgrade from the Squier amp as soon as you can, you will notice a great improvement in your sound. I would keep my eye on a Vox Valvetronix, or a Roland Cube.
Hope this helps
