Hope somebody can help: I don't full understand capos, just bought one today! Where exactly do I place the capo if it's on the 4th fret? On the fret somewhere? at the top, at the bottom, just about before the 4th fret starts etc?
And also how do you play the notes on the 2nd and 3rd fret if the capos on the 4th? Particularly the chords?

you place it on the fourth fret, you can't play the notes on the frets lower down the neck (so you can't play the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th fret)

you place just before the 4th fret and you cant play on the 1st 2nd or 3rd frets
edit: foiled

In that situation your 5th fret becomes your 1st fret 6th 2nd etc...... you treat a capo like a movable nut your fret numbers start below it.
