If there was an award for Greatest movie ever made who would win?
Here is my nominees
Comedy:Hot Rod
Action:The Dark Knight.(yeah,it really was good)
Thats it. whats your ideas?
discuss
I'm back. Cower in fear, mortals.

Claudio Sanchez is my hero.

Evil Dead for both

Edit: Seriously I'd go with Forrest Gump and Ace Ventura.
They credited us with the birth of that sort of heavy metal thing. Well, if that's the case, there should be an immediate abortion.

Oh please, the Dark Knight was good but it's already overrated to hell. You must be 12 years old if you think it's the best movie ever.
#5
I friggin' LOVE HOT ROD.
and I agree with your answers, but for horror it would have to be the original Halloween movie.

That's more like it. I'd add Apocalypse Now to that list as well. Didn't really like Shawshank Redemption as much as most people like it, but it's still an excellent movie. Citizen Kane is overrated, but the achievement that it was in movie making is undeniable.

Also, for anyone currently sucking on Heath Ledger's decaying balls for his performance as the Joker, watch Taxi Driver. Now THAT is what I call being a character.

I found The Godfather really boring. Didn't see what was so special about it. Shawshank is awesome though, Goodfellas is pretty good, and I haven't seen the other ones. Though I know Citizen Kane gets praised a lot. Sounded boring in the description, so I shall avoid it.

Some people in this thread have anger problems...but I really like The Nightmare Before Christmas

The Dark Knight was really good...and it could be the best movie ever made for some people..are you going to curse me out now?
Her friends are gazing on her,
And on her gaudy bier,
And weep!-oh! to dishonor
Dead beauty with a tear!
They loved her for her wealth-
And they hated her for her pride-
But she grew in feeble health,
And they love her-that she died.

carcass235, 300 was badly overrated. personally, you cant say which is the greatest film ever, there are too many good ones. so, lets find the best film in each genre:

Action
Adventure
Animation
Biography
Comedy
Crime
Disaster
Drama
Family
Fantasy
Horror
Musical
Sci-Fi
Sport
Thriller
War
Western

those are the genres i came up with.
