Okay, I'm soon going to be building my first guitar from scratch, and I have a wiring question. I am going to do it really simple. A humbucker with a volume control. What all do I need?

I'm going with the GFS crunchy rails. Is all I really need a 500k pot and some wire? And does anyone have/want to draw out a diagram? I just don't want to mess up.

Well I figured that. So I run one wire from the pickup to the volume pot, then from there to the output jack. And run the other pickup wire to the little metal thingy in the back cavity to ground it?

Is it really that simple?

the other part of the jack has to go to ground.

also, linky

but different makers use different colours for the wires. and i don't know how many conductors the gfs humbuckers come with.

GFS pickups use Seymour Duncan wiring, so you can use any SD diagrams for them.
