On Protools 7.3 LE for Mac, when i try to open the application, i get the message

"Unable to locate Digidesign Hardware."

It then won't let me open the app.

What is the problem, and how do i fix it?

Thanks for that. Really.

Is there any way to run it without it?

And what is the hardware it's referring to?

You're welcome.

Sarcastic as it might seem, it is the only answer to this question. You MUST have Digidesign hardware (Mbox, etc) to run ProTools.

How did you get protools software without the hardware?

anyways you need the proper hardware to run PT and you can do just fine with a program such as Sonar from Cakewalk IMO.
Everyone thinks PT is that "Must have" software if you are starting a studio. It does have its times however most studios dont really need it. If you are running a home studio Sonar or even Reaper will work fine.

Theres no way to run the software without the proper hardware (interface with the "Digidesign" stamp on it)

Haha, so true.

Yep, as people have already said, you can't run it without Digidesign hardware, who Pro tools is made by. If you already have an interface or soundcard, I'd suggest you just use different software.
