does anyone know how a guitar with active pickups (sd blackouts) would sound in drop c tuning?
i'm thinking about putting the seymour duncan blackouts in my ibanez and i wanna tune it in drop c but i'm not sure how if it would sound good...

thanks!

They'll sound nice. The actives help keep the notes defined that low.

Why would you want to tune to Drop C??? That would just sound horrid! Drop D and one step down on the other hand, that would work out nicely.

I wish people around here would use proper terminology!

cause normal people don't prefer to say drop d down one full step

i think they sound even better when you 18volt modd then, emgs at least, i hear blackouts come already with a pretty organic tone with more headroom so idk about 18 modding them

It'll sound like active pick ups on a guitar tuned to drop C.

Go figure.
Signatures are overrated.

i know EMG's sound amazing in C and blackouts arent THAT different, so id say good

It would sound very...standard. Not that that's anything bad, I love the sound of active pickups and low tunings, but it's a common recipe among bands these days

yeah they should work i still use 707's for my 7320 tuned to drop g

yes. I totally dig this tuning on my M-307.

Although I have the passive EMG's in mine, I want the Blackouts.

aww too bad you dont have actives, because black outs a an easy swap for emgs with no replacing pots or wirings
