Alnico 2s are good. I would also try a Pearly Gates and '59 or a set of PAF Pros.

Don't worry about pickups and just put that money toward a new amp.

aha, who didn't see that awnser comming when he said he had a spider 3 lol. Save up for a new amp, tube amp probably.
