i've been learning the solo to the testament song "practice what you preach". because according to alex skolnick, the solo goes through every mode, and he used to use it as a modal exercise. I'm learning this solo to familiarize myself with the modes and to make transitions between them more fluid. does anyone know any other solos that explore most of the modes? Any suggestions would be appreciated, but dont say things like "anything by so-and-so"
I would strongly suggest ignoring modes until you have a firm grasp on the major scale and diatonic harmony (at which point their workings should be more or less obvious), but if you're already familiar with the above subjects, you might try some of Satriani's pitch axis based work (e.g. Not of this Earth)
Someones knowledge of guitar companies spelling determines what amps you can own. Really smart people can own things like Framus because they sound like they might be spelled with a "y" but they aren't.
