I've been learning about lead guitar and I've come up with some questions.

Is it bad getting used to bending with only one finger?

Or is it better to bend with all the fingers available?

When it comes to doing vibrato I kind of move my fingers like if I were playing a violin or a cello rather than doing the typical up and down bending-like motion.
Is that bad? Or can I play like that?

Well you can bend anyway you want, but I havent come across many people who bend with one finger.

Its not bad, but I think you can get more out of a bend using more fingers.

Shouldnt this be "Bending Related Questions"?

Legato is hammer-on's/pull-offs. Not bending.

You should try to learn to bend with 3 fingers, you'll get a much better vibrato in your bends that way.

Sorry, thought legato implied bending and vibrato

That's fine, people get mixed up at first. I did.

Vibrato like with a cello (Like classical guitar players) is absolutely fine... It gives a more steady/warmer sound with subtle/not to noticeable changes to pitch with good sustain.

I certainly prefer this when I am playing jazz or anything mellow or quiet... but a blistering fast solo is usually fitted to having that obnoxious "wave" sound of up/down bending vibrato.

BENDING
Lets say you've done a short hammer on run like...

E| ---234---
hh

and you want to bend on the -4- a semi tone or... whatever.... Proper technique would often dictate that your THREE FINGERS ARE STILL ON EACH FRET...

ie. ("o" = finger)

E|--234--
o
E|--234--
oo
E|--234--
ooo

BEND WITH ALL THREE FINGERS AT ONCE (but of course the last finger will be the most necessary...

Bend with however many fingers you have available to bend...use as many as you can, if you can only use one, use one. it doesn't matter all that much unless your trying to bend up 9 frets
