"Rap musician"? Did you seriously just put those two words together, like, next to each other? No, no such thing. Rap is not music. And neither is techno, for that matter. One of the basic requirements for music is instuments and music talent.

music can be made from anything you douche bag
1.an art of sound in time that expresses ideas and emotions in significant forms through the elements of rhythm, melody, harmony, and color.
2. the tones or sounds employed, occurring in single line (melody) or multiple lines (harmony), and sounded or to be sounded by one or more voices or instruments, or both.
3. musical work or compositions for singing or playing.
4. the written or printed score of a musical composition.
5. such scores collectively.
6. any sweet, pleasing, or harmonious sounds or sound: the music of the waves.
7. appreciation of or responsiveness to musical sounds or harmonies: Music was in his very soul.
8. Fox Hunting. the cry of the hounds.

If you have never heard a rap song withan instrument in it,then you have obviously never listened to rap,and should not be allowed to have an opinion on it.

I'll take this guy as metal musician for the win.

Truly spoken like someone who has never experienced music outside of MTV. Rap is very likely one of the most difficult genres of Western music to perform well, and techno is one of the most diverse styles of music imaginable, making any generalization impossible.
Someones knowledge of guitar companies spelling determines what amps you can own. Really smart people can own things like Framus because they sound like they might be spelled with a "y" but they aren't.

Yeah, but I didn't want to list so many to the point where everyone would be like "Too much to type!!" because, yeah, the genre of a "musician" can breakdown a lot... gender... sub-genre, etc.

Oh shut up. Quit being an elitist.

As for TS, I question why it matters? I mean, tons of people are talking about breaking barriers and breaking stereotypes nowadays.

It's just a question. Tons of questions never matter on a forum. To create discussion. There's nothing in the rules that says a question has to a have a point beyond looking for an opinion.

Ah ok. I was just asking. Its all good. I just want to prevent a big argument/flamefest over musical genres.

I think you guys are arguing with Minderbinder just for the sake of it. I agree with him. Rap is an inferior form of music.

When I think acoustic guitarist, I see Kurt Cobain in his woolly jumper doing those mtv videos...Or Jose Gonzales.

virtually none of these people are retarded, and the only real blatantly dumb thing said thus far in this thread was said by you and the kid who added "+80000000".

You then try to exit without even doing anything to defend yourself or prove a point by using an unwitty line all of us have heard before.
If arguing online was like competing in the special olympics, why do you post here, let alone with some outrageous claim like that to START the thread?

Since when is the singer of a rockband not a musician? Rap is music even if you don't like it

And techno....so if I use pedals I'm not playing guitar anymore?

You my sir have to respect any genre of music and not just guitar music

Yeah, you initiated the argument by questioning the TS's decision to classify rap and techno as real music. That's a poor excuse y'got there, I'm not even going to call it an argument.
Ever listen to Public Enemy? Aphex Twin (not sure if that's techno, but what the hell)? I doubt you have. You're just basing your thoughts on what people have told you, and what's on TV.
