I'm finding myself just wankering off scales and some not in key, but still works. Just no emotion.

Any ideas for a more melodic shred?

Well, in a more melodic manner, I mean, instead of just shredding around the boxes and such and moving out.

Try playing some raw blues for a while. Keep the tempo slow and just let it flow. Try to think of the guitar as a voice that is crying or singing. If you find yourself slipping into some shred focus on keeping it slow.
