Hey guys, I'm looking to get a new amp soon. I play classic rock and blues. I also want some good cleans. Budget is under $700 and has to be loud enough to gig.

My stock Epi Valve Jr with extension cab can get classic rock fairly easily with the right pedal. Without a pedal it does a damn fine job as well. A good video of some classic rock tone from an Epi...

Good Pink Floyd like tone...

GREAT OD classic rock type tone (maybe early 80's metal?)...

Just my .02

Why are you guys on about Classic 30s and Valve Juniors when in the first reply there is the great suggestion of a JCM 800?

Because, like you, we have an opinion on the subject. I am sure the JCM will do a fine job as well.

Are you seriously telling me that you think a Vale Junior would do better than something 3 times it's price though?

If you don't want to wait, look at a Peavey Classic 30 in your price range. If you saved up some more though, get the JCM.

Greg what did you send me??

Well the JCM 800 is out of my budget. I'm looking at the classic 30 & 50, and VJ wouldn't be loud enough.

I didn't see that one, how are the cleans on it? I could always use an acoustic for cleans.

There's a website with a bunch of soundclips of them. I'm sure there are some examples of the cleans somewhere in there.
