I just wanted to see which pickups you guys like. I'm thinking about changing pickups myself, and wanted to see what you guys use, to give me an idea of which would be best for me.

So, after you've picked the brand name, list the model of the pickup(s) you like the most, list whether they're passive or active, and give a few details on why you like them. If I forgot any brand names, just list them in your post.

well, for a start, what guitar are you going to put the pickups in? what amp are you using? what tone are you after and why do you want to change your tone?
pickups are all preference. i'm more of a Duncan/Dimarzio guy.
Ibanez RG321MH (Air Classic/Tone Zone)
Fernandes Telecaster (Twang King/stock bridge pickup)
Blackstar HT-20 (Scumback 55 speaker/ Tung Sol tubes)

Metal. All kinds. Heavy distortion. The settings on my amp are:
Bass- 8
Mid- 10
Treble- 8

The pickups will be going into my Ibanez S520EX, and the amp is a Crate GLX65. But when I'm asking you what kind of pickups you guys like, I'm just looking to find out why you guys like them. I'm just trying to get a better understanding of what I should be looking for, rather than having you guys chose for me. So you guys tell me which pups you like, and I'll decide for myself.

You most definately want some Gibson P-90s then.

Kidding man, go get yourself the 81/85 EMG Active pickups. Sound beautiful distorted but a little stale clean.

NO! EMGs sound horrid!

Duncan Blackouts. They do cleans a lot better than EMGs. Also they have a wider frequency response than EMGs and they have less compression...

Basically, EMGs sound stale and ugly whereas the Blackouts sound a bit better and more dynamic.

i didnt mean the amp settings. i meant what exactly is your amp

EDIT: i'm not an active pickup kinda guy. i prefer Duncan passives and Dimarzios especially Duncan Custom. but for acitves, ive tried the Blackouts and they're good.

Favourite pickups in order, all dimarzio

Evo2 - Crazy awesome lead sounds
Evolution neck - also crazy awesome, i like the smoothness
Breeds - Great all around tone, nice and warm
PAF Pros - Great stuff, kinda crunchy
Evolution bridge - Good lead, but kinda ice picky
Super Distortion - Good rythm sounds
Tone Zone - Awesome, warm, but needs a lot of tweaking
X2N - Freakin awesome harmonics and stuff for metal, but i dont play a lot of metal

I like those all

I like Seymour Duncans myself, but mainly because I don't have enough experience with DiMarzio. From them I like their Jazz and JB mostly.
Fender Hot Rod Deluxe
Gibson Faded V
Warmoth Strat copy
Epiphone Hummingbird (FS!!)
Ibanez SR400QM
Fender BXR100

I picked EMG's, I really like the 81/60 combo. 81/81 and 81/85 are great too. Especially with the Afterburner. I've only tried one guitar with a blackout (alexi sig) and I didn't get near enough time to really listen to it. But other than the previous EMG's, I don't really like any others. Oh, the 81tw/89 set are pretty great too if you want to be versatile. 707's are great.

I could go on I love EMG's.

Yeah, I realized that after I last posted. I updated my last post. It's a Crate GLX65.

Well, new pickups with that amp won't make a difference you like, you should maybe get a new one first. To be cliche.
