What's an all-around good mic for recording vocals, acoustic guitar, and electric guitar and plugged into an amp? I do not have much money for multiple mics, so I need a mic that is good for everything. My budget is around $250. Thanks.

Try a Rockband mic.

Dead serious, me and my friend plugged it into my laptop the other day, using the native Windows drivers.

Surprisingly awesome quality.

SM57 for instruments and SM58 for vocals. I doubt they'll cost that much.

im pretty sure the 57 is 50$ and the 58 is 100

This is for a home studio, not messing around.

I need serious suggestions please. This might be hard for you guys.

+1 to SM57 and 58.

We just picked up a couple SM57s for $120 at guitar center.

They're both priced at $100 on guitarcenter.com and musiciansfriend.com

The Shure SM58 is overrated imo, bought one new a little while ago from GC and it ended up being worse than the First Act mic we had bought from Walmart. Don't know if that was just the one I bought or if First Act is just really good, but that's my story.
