so these guitars seem about equally 1st I need to know if the neck is bolt on or not. 2nd which wood would be better, pickups, neck, ect. Im thinking the em2 will suck cuz its got a original floyd.

I have been playing for two weeks (barrowed a friends fender highway1) and this will be my 1st guitar and I need one I can grow into

The EM2 will do you better. Deans aren't known for beginners.

That Epiphone looked very nice, and is made of poplar instead of agathis. The OFR will murder the LFR on the ESP, Not to mention I've never heard any bad about the EpiActive pickups. Then again, I've also never heard anything GOOD about them, either. I have heard the LH-whatever aren't very good though.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

on the Epi? it's a form of bolt on,somewhat similar to the PRS style. Check Epiphone's website, I think there's still a section on the prophecy line with pictures of the neck joint.
