So basically I started a new grunge band called "Anti-cool" Im singing/guitar, got a bassist, and a drummer. We just love the adreniline in playing loud heavy riff driven music and the atmosphere of punk shows, so we chose the middle route "Grunge"

We have two songs down as of now.
"Vasoline" by Stone Temple Pilots
"Blitzkeig Bop" by The Ramones (Not grunge, but a fun song that I always teach my band first.)

I need easy (remember im singing) not overplayed, (Teen Spirit for example) grunge songs to learn the grunge style more of.

Thanks

ooh i used to be in a grunge band and played teh same role heres 5 songs and some tips to writing your own
rape me-nirvana
suck you dry-mudhoney
would-alice in chains
do re mi-nirvna
black hole sun-soundgarden

also when writing your own music
for lyrics
use clever oxymorons and puns and sometimes just random garbage that only makes sense to you

when writing riffs use lots of dead notes and buy a digitech grunge pedal

Thanks man. Those are all great suggestions, only thing is I can't sing "Black Hole Sun", i'll just avoid it.

Sweet, that kind of lyric writing is what im best at.

How much does a grunge pedal cost?

Gotta have some mudhoney!

This.

Also check out the Screaming Trees.

And before you learn any new songs, come up with a different band name. Yours is one of the worst I've seen.

How about "Civil DP"?

The drummer wanted to name the band so bare with me.

Stop playing grunge, you'll be a lot better.

Dont be so eager to declare your own genre.

Siva, Drown- Smashing Pumpkins
Yellow ledbetter, Alive- Pearl Jam

both have two guitarists though, but when my band plays these they sound great.

Is that a ukulele in your pants, or did you just rip ass to the tune of "Aloha Oi"?

I met Sonic Youth on June 30th, and Mars Volta on Oct 20th.

You can't do Black Hole Sun but you can do Would?

Hmm, if you had a good voice you could try some more Pearl Jam or Soundgarden. Maybe Them Bones?

I also agree that you shouldn't choose a specific genre to be, because that pigeonholes you. Just be what the bands want to be.

Don't try to be Nirvana either. In my eyes they're the least talented big grunge band.

Also try some Jane's Addiction, its what gets me creative in dry spells, and they are always fun.

I give you props for playing a dead genre. It was a great genre though, a lot better than this emo crap we have now.

But I'd say you should try some Dinosaur Jr., In Bloom is an easy song by Nirvana, still kind of overplayed but not as much as SLTS.

How about playing some creed? (That was a joke, even jesus and the devil hate creed)
