Okay, so I think I'm doing everything right. I set up the static IP, which works because I can connect to the Internet just fine. I've gone into my router's set up page to correspond with the settings. I've turned off firewalls and enabled DMZ. Yet port forwarding still seems to be closed...

Can anyone help me out here?

Edit:

Linksys WRT54G router
Comcast internet
Vista

Well...

1. I don't really see how port forwarding is related to the specific programs.
2. I don't trust Bitcomet at all.

I've used BitComet before and I think I got a virus or spyware/adware from the program. I do remember it having advertisements that I could not block or close.

O ic, well i doubt thats a Bit Comet prob. I usually just scan everything i download before i open it, and try to stay away from virus prone downloads, like porn, or Cds and movies that claim to be real, even though they haven't come out yet

1. I do buy things that I want. But what I want is not always available on the physical market, nor are the prices always reasonable.

2. I don't get viruses/spyware when I'm using things that I trust.

Well, the advertisement IS BitComet's problem because it's built into the program. I'm not worried about getting viruses from what I actually download.

Quit trying to act like you're all high and mighty, you're only coming off as a ****.

I'm sure you've pirated things before, so give it a rest. And if you haven't, you've certainly done other things that are considered illegal and immoral.

Let me reiterate: Shut the **** up.

edit:
Not to mention the fact that your analogy is absolutely flawed.

By downloading something he is not taking away any form of material possession. Nothing has been lost. He is merely making a copy of something else for himself.

Okay, I'm not going to argue with you. If you don't have advice that actually helps, don't come into this thread, simple as that.

This thread is to solve a technical issue, not to debate on the morality of P2P file sharing.

Listen port?

http://www.utorrent.com/setup_guide.php

Look under Resolving a NAT problem. That'll show you how to set up the listen port.

Now, go to http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Linksys/WRT54G/eMule.htm

and follow the instructions there. Granted it's for eMule, but the principle is the same.

Hope this helps!

No! i will not shut the F up..and when you steal software ,that company is losing money...plain and simple ,which could be a reason why the software cost so dam much in the first place..If you did not pay for it,and it is not advertised as free by the author/company,and you take it...its stealing. Its not acting high and mighty..its the law bozo! Its the author's/company's right to charge whatever they want for there product...just because you cannot afford it,does not give you the right to steal it.

Stealing Software: Going to a store and physically removing the disc without purchasing it.

Copyright Infringment: Using a piece of software obtained either through the internet of from "my mate Dave" without a licence.

Please get your terminology correct before you start hurling misinformed abuse at people.

you morons can put any kinda twist on it that you like...its still stealing. And you can be fined or put in jail for it. And why do they do that?..because it is illegal, which is my whole point. Dee De Dee!

I've never forwarded my ports for utorrent and it works just fine

Mine works without port forwarding, but the speeds are very slow. When I use port forwarding, my download speed averaged about 200kbps.
