Im lookin at the Carvin br series and in particular the br615. Carvin seems to be highly praised in these parts and i was wonderning if this combo is any good.

For the most part i play reggae, funk and rock but i dabble in others as well.
My budget is under $1000 canadian.
Other suggestions appreciated.

The one thing you must understand about Carvin amps is that they have an extremely transparent tone. They don't have a trademark tone like Ampeg or GK. As long as you know that beforehand, then you'll be in the clear with that combo.

Carvin's amps are great quality for the price and overall compare well to the better manufacturers. I got the chance to visit their store in Sacramento, and tried out some of their amps, mainly full stacks and heads / cabs. But they are very transparent, and as I've said before I really like a more classic amp sound aka Trace Elliot / Ampeg or even Ashdown.

I think Mutant Corn has a Carvin rig, but I can't remember off hand what he has.

Is there any way to colour the tone a little then? cause this is the best amp i've found for my price range.

EDIT: Like adding a more "colourful" speaker?
