Yes i know mgs suck get a new amp blah blah
I REALLY want a new one, but my question is..
When i play in drop tunings the sound is terrible, is it my guitar or my amp or both?
And is a Vox Valvetronix AD30 a good amp for practice and maybe small gigs? Or should i get an AD50 or a Peavey Valveking? Also recommend me a good guitar for metal that has awesome clean tones too.
Setup..:
Fender Roadhouse Strat
Fender Hotrod Deluxe amp
BOSS DS-2
Dunlop Jimi Hendrix Crybaby Wah

I don't know if your guitar or amp would affect that. Mabey you should get higher gauge strings.

If i try to play a song, it just doesnt have a good tone, and Clement im just going to save Birthday+Christmas money , Bday is in Feb and i think one of those amps would be fine, i wont have a big budget or else id get a Fender Deluxe Reverb 66' Reissue
and for the guy above maybe.. i use Super Slinkys but i like them ;O, i guess i could consider going up though because i play blues and metal and rock.

Well if you can make it stretch, definitely go for the Valveking, in the long run you will appreciate the tube tone a lot more.
#7
Oh the vox is a hybrid huh? What is a hybrid amp anyways, a cross between tube/ss?
Setup..:
Fender Roadhouse Strat
Fender Hotrod Deluxe amp
BOSS DS-2
Dunlop Jimi Hendrix Crybaby Wah

Yeah, it uses one tube, but really it hardly makes any difference, your much better off going full tube

I think that a hybrid has a tube pre amp but an ss power amp

Edit: the tone isnt much better than normal solid state amps

I've heard they are very good amps, but it sounds like it would be a little to cleanly voiced for your needs as far as music style goes. You might want to check out something else.

Go to a really big music shop like Guitar Center somewhere near you, and go try out some amps in your price range. Avoid line 6 Spiders, and I don't think a Vox AD50vt would be a huge improvement in your tone. I have the same amp as you
and I think it's the best MG out there, but yeah, it still sucks.

Peavey ValveKings sound really good IMO, especially for metal. But of course, it has a good clean channel too. If you can stretch your budget, go for a ValveKing 112.

Remember though, you are the only person who can tell if YOU like an amp or not.

What is your budget for a guitar?

uhh... from that list....

I wouldn't say you need Br00talz tone. You play classic rock man!

Get a B-stock Epiphone Les Paul Custom, to go with either a ValveKing 112 or the Crate V-18

go with the valveking

Traynor YCV50Blue with an OD pedal for Metallica. Should be cheaper considering you're in Canada.

I have a DS-2 for distortion pedal. :\
So its either a Crate V or a VK

I say you go try them out.

The ValveKing has ALOT more gain than the Crate, just keep that in mind.

It would yeah, it'll be easier to solo on a Ibanez too rather than a Les Paul. But the LP does have the huge tone that makes the classic rock sound.
Real men don't need sigs.

This looks like a great deal, plus it looks cool.
Not as cool as my RG though!

Get on MusiciansFriend, and look for Ibanez guitars in your price range. Keep in mind, Floyd Rose tremolos are frustrating as hell sometimes if you don't know how to use them.
