Well some guy made a "How Did You Get Into Metal" thread in the wrong section so I figured I would do this the correct way.

The earliest memory of listening to Hardcore was a few years ago when I was playing a Tony Hawk game and the Black Flag song Rise Above came on. Although it was rougher then all the music I listened to at the time (mostly crap) I really liked it. A few years later, I made an account on UG and discovered this forum section. Around the same time I started getting into screamo and some metalcore bands.

Your turn.

Sorry about that. I guess I'll just keep this thread for now if that's alright.

I haven't really got into 'real' hardcore, but the type I got into was through friends and just checking things out (maybe heard of a band from something and decided to download a few songs)

It's better than the vast majority of threads that have been popping up lately. He didn't bring back a two year old thread, big deal

Anyway

Some friends wanted me to jam with them, got me into Bane and Guns Up. Got into some local stuff, got into Minor Threat and Gorilla Biscuits, took off from there.

Personally, I started out with Norma Jean and Zao, moved into scenexcore, then started listening to Modern Life is War in late 2005 and slowly transition into hardcore.

Listened to some metalcore like Zao and stuff, then got into some screamo like Envy, got Have Heart, Guns Up, Verse, and Daniel Striped Tiger (screamo I know) albums from a friend and listened to those a little bit. Decided to download Start Today which was what really got me into it, just got more into it after that.

I liked some pop punk when I was younger, never took it seriously. I didn't bother with music as I hated TV and Radio as it was always boring. Got into Nu Metal from mouth, metalcore by web, then I had a mathcore/death metal/grindcore stage. I then got into hardcore, starting by bands I got into my metalcore stage, being No Warning and Madball. Comeback Kid help me get further, and here I am.

My music taste is a lot more versatile now though now I brought rock, folk and more into my life.

i think the MAIN hardcore band that got me into the genre was Hatebreed

A friend of mine made me listen to Atreyu. A month later, I saw them with Norma Jean and Unearth, both of whom I immediately liked more. Then I went to the web lookin for music that was even more extreme than that, so I found bands like Nile, Meshuggah, etc. Then I looked for extreme bands with good guitar, so I got into Necrophagist and BTBAM, which led to some deathcore as well. That brought me to this forum. Then you fuckers got me into modern life is war and verse, and now I love hardcore!

basically most of my bros turned there backs on me, so i realized the only thing i had was family. After this realization i needed music that i could spin kick kids too.

I used to listen to crappy punk (Anti-Flag, NOFX, etc.) and I continuously strove to expand my musical knowledge. Eventually, I got into Sick Of It All and the Dead Kennedy's, followed by a short stint listening to crap like Unearth, Thrice and Walls of Jericho. Fortunately I saw With Honor and Comeback Kid at a show and I really enjoyed them. So I started to look into those bands influences and got into hardcore as I know it.

Got into Alexisonfire through MuchMusic, thought that **** was hardcore, came here, saw dai's (i think?) huge Gorilla Biscuits collection, wondered what kind of band would spur someone to buy that many copies of one record, and the rest is history. Although, after GB, i did get into a lot of really awful metalcore.

The first band I got into was Papa Roach, in about 1st grade, then came Linkin Park. Then it was just a bunch music like that, I didn't even know what the bands were called, I just listened to the radio. Then in 6th grade, I got into System Of A Down, they were my obsession the summer. Then going into 7th grade, I got into Underoath, then Rise Against, then From Autumn To Ashes, then Atreyu and Bullet For My Valentine, crappy **** like that. The first band heavier band I got into that wasn't terrible was Through The Eyes Of The Dead over the summer. Then at the beginning of 8th grade I started using these boards, started getting deeper into deathcore ****. I've been into All Shall Perish for the longest out of all the bands. I really really liked The Black Dahlia Murder for a while... then I started actually taking the recs of this board. Getting into some of the really good ****, and it's just kind of branching off from there. I'm just getting into the genre, and I'm going to be a freshman this coming year, so I'm excited to see what else I'll get into

Its so weird when anyone mentions Jacoby or his band, because I went to the same high school as Coby's step-brother Bryson Roatch (whose Grandfather the band was named after). My friend also used to babysit his kids all the time while he was on tour.
