I have been driving for about a year and a half now and from the day I got my license to now I still just go out and drive at night. My friends call me an idiot because of the high gas prices and everything but I really don't give a ****. I'll usually drive around so I can get away from things. Its kind of like meditation for me where I can have a time to think about things and calm down if I am ever having a stressful situation in my life. Does anybody agree?

I admit that if the price of gas gets much higher in my life then I might have to switch to some other form of meditation.

That sounds normal, I would definitely do that if I had cash to burn. When I am driving, I love it.

I don't really like driving a car because I still kinda suck; I've still gotta have a qualified instructor sit in with me. Now my motorbike, that's another story! It's soothing, fun, cheap on gas, and I probably just look badass while I'm ridin' it!
#5
Yeah, I love driving. And cranking Kyuss while driving. Nothing like Blues for the Red Sun to get you pumped for the day.

Also, I like to take different routes just for fun, even if it takes longer to get to where im going.
#7
I love doing that too but paying for my own gas kinda sucks without a real job so i cant do it too much

out of curiosity when you drive around where do you go to?

strange... I guess I'm the minority in this group. I really don't like driving at all (even though I'm just learning, that might have something to do with it). Walking IMO is the best way to clear your head, and you can still listen to music through headphones.
#9
I love driving and it really does relax me, but I don't really go out driving just for the sake of driving.

Gas prices are lowering where i live so good news!
on the topic though, yea its relaxing but with gas prices i don't do it.

Same here, the gas station next to my girlfriends house is $3.79. Sad that I think thats a good price, but these are the times we live in.

And yes, I love driving. I always offer to drive for everyone, and im very good at it. I tried applying for a pizza delivery boy, combining my two loves of driving and pizza, but I have to be 18. Im 17 right now.
#13
i literally just got back from a nice 45 minute drive around the back roads. I listened to powder burns by the twilight singers all the way through
#14
Yeah, I love driving a car. I don't even necessarily have to be driving fast either, just driving at all is a lot of fun.

It's not really relaxing....it's hard to explain. It's like a power-trip, sort of. I control the car, I control all that power, just me, no one else. I'm guiding it, I send it where it needs to go. It's like I become part of the car.

I usually blast music while I drive too. The music gets me into the zone. It makes me feel like the music is a sound track to my driving, it's awesome.

3.68 is the lowest here.

It's still ridiculous compared to last year, when it went down to 2.98.

I hate other drivers when I'm driving; but I still like doing it. Hardly anything beats being behind the wheel of your car(especially if it's a car you really like) and just driving around. I used to just burn mix cds and drive around all day(way before gas prices got so high). I'm hoping that the gas prices drop sometime though; my car runs on Premium. : /

I remember when I first moved to GA my parents payed $2.20 at a gas station once. It was like Christmas for adults.

For your situation, i go out for a long walk. Much better, imo. But when you're with friends just cruisin with no place in particular to go, then thats really fun.

I think 2.98 is the lowest price we've had around here in a few years.

The highest was 4.09 I think, that was some bullshit.

Even better; watch older movies and look at the ridiculously low gas prices. My brother and I noticed in Back to the Future in the 1955 gas station gas was 19 and a half cents

Driving is awesome. I drive every chance I can get. When I get my license I'll probably be broke because I'll be driving around everywhere and wasting gas.

+1 man, I'll be doing a lot of driving.

I don't know how I'm gonna pay for it. I don't have a job now because I have a car but no license, so by default I have no money. Once I have my license I'll have to get insurance, which I can't do because I have no money because I have no job because I can't drive my car.

$4.09 would be the ultimate low here in Oregon, where gas is typically $4.49.

Scottsdale FTW. My parents can pay for my gas. Yea, and I love driving. I haven't done any joyriding by myself. I do drive a lot, but there's always a destination. I do want to just drive down to ASU sometime at night by myself, just to get away for a little bit.

On topic, though, uhm...I disagree. No, I'm kiddin'. (See what i did there?) Driving's awesome, but I talk to other drivers, try to convince them to get out of my way. I know they can't hear me, but they can sure hear the power of my Ford...Escort. *blegh*

I love doing that. I find that the best thing to do is get some music you're not really familiar with, or an old CD you haven't listened to in forever. (EDIT: Or Joe Satriani. His stuff is always fun to listen to while just crusing...at least I think so) It's really cool feeling. I almost never do this though, cuz of the money

I like to drive late at night when the roads are quiet and I can just cruise along with my music, but I've only done it once or twice, petrol in Australia is really very expensive. At the moment it's about $1.60 a litre, which would equal about $5.76 US dollars a gallon at the current exchange rate.

I hate driving. It's way too stressful and very expensive for those of us whose parents won't pay for our gas and also have other bills to pay. Like rent.

I prefer biking. Plus one million indie points, thank you very much.
