I'm pretty sure their was no results from the search bar.

What is the most philosophical thing you have ever thought of?
Something that makes you think harder than you ever have?

One thing that always makes me think is wondering about life on other planets/galaxies, etc, etc.

Thoughts?
Discuss.

I don't think alien life is a philosophical thing. You won't find the answers by looking inward.

What really gets me thinking is science. The more I look into science, the more mystical and spiritual it seems.

13.7 billion years ago, space started to expand rapidly. The clouds of hydrogen gas condensed enough to form stars. The really big stars eventually blew up, forming the heavier elements. From these formed the planets, and slowly, the molecules started to self replicate. These self replicating molecules eventually formed all the life on this planet.

What ISN'T mystical about that?

Sometimes I do some in depth thinking about sex positions

Just today I had a brainwave that i would need TWO condoms for a threesome because if 1 girl had aids it cud be given to the other girl by the condom i used on std girl. This also led to the thinking I COULD USE A CONDOM WITH AIDS ON IT TO INFECT PEOPLE AND NEVER CATCH IT MYSELF. own

Also,
have you ever noticed that when you say a word so much, it seems to lose meaning, and you start to wonder about it?

Like once I kept on repeating "How,how, how, how, how, how, how" And it lost meaning, I forgot what it meant, and I started wondering if I was saying the right word.

i do the same, i think a lot about hoe going on holiday makes people stupid. i'll give you an example:

me: would you like a large or regular coffee sir? *points to large and small cup*

customer: which is the large?

me: *bangs head on wall*

makes me think about how normal people that can and are quite intelligent can become stupid in an instant and then snap put of it.

Whats even worse, is when you think about how a word sounds. When I think about it too much, pretty much every word there is just sounds really silly.

I don't rate them
The most concise thing I could type on here is probably the concept that everyone in the world is a stranger. There are billions upon billions of people all with their own complex thoughts and realizations and insight and as individuals, we maybe are acquainted with about 2000 people, friends with 500, and close friends with 2 or 3. How many people do you really KNOW? How many can you say you truly, truly care for? Then think about how many people out there you really don't know, people that are waiting to get their thoughts out to you, people that you'll never meet or hear or see or communicate with in any way.

why would you do that?

Anway, if you've been blind since birth, what happens when you dream? Can you see images in your dream? What would the images look like, since you don't have anything to base them off of?

Also, the concept of dimensions blows my mind. Trying to imagine some 4th dimension other than width, height, or depth just seems impossible.

The new Paper Mario for the Wii is amazing for that reason. You experience the normal 2-D world of the old mario games, but suddenly you can expand it into a 3-D world and go behind things you normally couldnt.

I'm not exactly great at physics, but one of the things that makes me think is the Strong Nuclear Force or whatever it's called. The force that hold atoms together. The thing is, it only works over such a small distance, and is so specialised. And without it, nothing, not even atoms, could exist. (As far as I'm aware). When I was learning about it at school, I just thought, 'hang on, why the hell does this exist? It's so vital, yet it's so ridiculously complex.'

And I mean, I know it could have been just an accident, but it's so specific and kind of goes against various other principles of physics that it makes me think... why? Surely there must be some divine reason or something that this little rule exists so that life and the universe is possibe? Wouldn't it have just been easier and more probable for everything to just... not exist? It's just so perfect.

I know a lot of you will disagree though. I hear there's loads of weird stuff that goes on when you go down to atomic sizes anyway, so... I'm not even going to pretend to have a clue about half of what I just wrote.

+1 for dimensions, trying to picture a 4th dimensional sphere makes me crazy. how would you calculate the volume off that anyway. does it have infinite volume?
#20
All around us, we are completely surrounded by molecule up against molecule. Even what we consider to be "empty" there are still molecules of gas. How can we successfully live in terms of objects that are so large, treating them all as separate things? If you were too look at something up closely (closer than we are able to) you wouldn't see definition between objects, you would just see molecule touching molecule, touching molecule.

I was in an elevator the other day, and had a really weird conspiracy thought. What if, similar to games that had "loading screens" whenever you entered a room, the world was like that. I mean, what if when i stepped into the elevator and pushed a button, I didnt really move up a few floors, but everything outside of that elevator disappeared and reappeared as the 4th floor?

yeah, i dont kno wat would be the MOST philosophical, but i think about everything. like, everything i see or hear is judged in one way or another slightly. like clothes, things people wear, listen to, things that represent them. the governemnt, and i often question other ppl's reasoning. i guess im always wondering about wat somebody else is thinking, wats going thro their head.

I read something like "since 3D cubes are made of 2D squares, a 4D shape would be bounded by 3D objects."

Volume isn't applicable; that's only for 3-D objects. If you want a 4-D shape, try googling 'hypercube'

it is possible to integrate over any amount of dimensions, you could integrate over 26 dimensions if you wanted to. therefore hyperspheres have volume just like regular 3d spheres. i just cant picture it in my mind.

The thing I've thought the most lately is that life is absent in meaning, everything we do loses it's meaning, the absurdity in all of our acts is inherent, all it's domed to be insignificant, animal, primary.
The only thing that has a point in this life is reproduction, which makes us more animals than we think but theres one thing that makes us better than all the animals which it's reason and if we think rationally the existence of a God is impossible which makes life even more meaningless, so we are here just to make more absurd life.
Now, I don't find it depressing it just makes me want to have more reason than everyone else. To become more human, and accomplish what Nietzsche said, the supra hombre.

1. I don't think you really know the meaning of the word "philosophical".
2. I'll therefore choose to give an answer which is completely irrelevant:

"Oh shit, the ice is moving!"
I play by my own rules. And I have one rule; There are no rules... but if there are, they're there to be broken. Even this one.

Not really. Chickens come from eggs. The egg came first. Something produced a mutant which turned out to be what we now call a "chicken". End of that.

As said before, science makes me think about really deep things.
“Science cannot solve the ultimate mystery of nature. And that is because, in the last analysis, we ourselves are part of nature and therefore part of the mystery that we are trying to solve.”

This always makes me think. Especially when driving on a motorway, looking at everyone else driving. None of them care that I exist, I'm just part of their background, much as they are mine.

And I now think of science as a religion. Very observation based, but I don't think it comes anywhere close to explaining what really happens.

I suspect they made glass elevators to put that very suspicion to rest.

My question: is anyone actually who they want to be? Like when you're down on yourself, and are just feeling like a bit of a loser, obviously you can think of things about yourself that you'd like to change. Or when you're just feeling normal, you can think of an image of yourself that you'd like to achieve.

But then when you're happy, and feel like the social center of attention, or like some great guitar player or something, are you simply looking at things differently? Like maybe you're nothing like you think you are. So can we ever be who we want to be, or in wanting to be a certain way do we automatically doom ourselves from ever achieving it? And will we ever know what we're actually like?
We're only strays.

I know, I just like to post irrelevant things, and it was a good excuse.

To be more on-topic:
I find it really strange to think that technically I (and the whole world with me) could have come into existance a few seconds ago for all I know, and the intricacies of my memories could just be fabricated.
I play by my own rules. And I have one rule; There are no rules... but if there are, they're there to be broken. Even this one.
