The bass player for my band is going to get a schector omen 8 for his birthday and I was wondering if it would be a good addition for my band. We are a 4 piece metal band with only one guitar and I wanted to ask you all if having the 4 extra strings would help compensate for not having a rythm guitarist?

they will help a lot but it won't be the same thing as having a rhythm guitarist, but props to him for getting one

You do know how 8 strings are right? They are basically just 4 double strings. One of the strings will be normal bass gauge, the other will be an octave higher.

I think you need to stop caring what people think about it. I stayed home all day today and masturbated like 5 times. Fucking blast.

It's be like root notes to the max. Depending on his amplification it may end up sounding exactly how it does now. If you run your mids to the max you'll end up getting a much fuller sound with the bass, but it's not going to be a substitute for another guitar, but if done correctly it will give the band a fuller sound.

Yeah, I played this model in the shop and I just thought Id ask if it would improve our overall sound or hurt it

Cool. Just making sure. It shouls give a somewhat fuller sound, but it's no substitution for a rhythm guitarist.

You're not going to have the speed or the tone you'll usually want in a hardcore/metalcore band.
