So I went to a local guitar store and tried out a MIM HSS Strat and and Epiphone Les Paul Standard. Couldn't try out any Ibanezes because they were out of every decent model in my price range.

I was set on getting a Les Paul but after carefully looking at the neck I found that the Strat playd A LOT better/easier mainly because its thinner and I preferred the contour of it. But I love the mellow tone of the LP.

Are there any Ibanezes or even other brand guitars that would cater to what I'm looking for? Or is it uncomfortable on LP because I'm just used to the Strat neck?

I was gonna suggest you build a warmoth strat with a mahogany body/neck but then I saw your budget. You could get the MIM strat and change pickguards for a wired HH one.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

I don't think you can do that. I'm pretty sure they are different scale lengths.

Most standard LPs have 24.75" scale lengths while strats have 25.5".

Basically it wouldnt intonate for bollocks.

Maybe try getting ahold of one of the old HH standards on ebay.

I'd say plus one, but has nobody realized that bolt on neck=/=set neck? Even IF they were of the same scale length, the set neck would be a bitch to remove, and even then, the bolt on wouldn't fit.

Actually no, that would create a bigger problem. Do you know what scale length is? It disagrees with your suggestion.
