As stated in the title, I'm not allowed to play my guitar through my amp because my grandma moved in with us, and frankly, she hates my kind of music. My mom said I'm not allowed to play my amp as long as she's living here, because she doesnt want me to annoy her. Any suggestions on what to do in this predicament? She's not leaving anytime soon, probably not for more than a month, and playing unlplugged is really a last resort, it doesnt really appeal to me. I figured I'd take a crack at leraning some theory, but I dont know.

What do you guys think?

Just kill your grandmother.

She's old, no one will miss her.

EDIT: Or, acoustic?

just play it quiet. No one practices with their amp turned on unless they're deaf. Just practice for a month instead of making noise. This way you get to hear what you're playing properly and get to correct the wrong notes you hear.
#12
Just turn it really low, like so you can just hear it above the picking of the strings, elderly can't hear the greatest anyway.

Dude, why do you need an amp? I never use one when I'm just playing by myself.

Pick up an acoustic guitar, learn theory. It'll help you a lot more in the end than shredding through distortion.

Just get it all out of your system now and crank your amp all the way up and jam

(then get an acoustic )

you know amps have volume knobs, and you're grandma is presumably half-deaf, so turn it down so she can't hear it.

Get over it. Tone doesn't matter when you're practicing.

you have a 50 watt tube amp but no 5-30 watt practice amp? Im sure you could ask a friend to borrow his beginer frontman 15g amp for a month.

1. Set volume/gain to 10
2. Turn on all the effects you have
3. Strum randomly on power chords
4. Grandma has a heart attack, hopefully fatal
5. ...
6. Profit.
