I was just wondering how I compared to some people.
For me, it's around 3 or 4 in the summer (I just practice really early and really late) and during school like 2-3.

Yeah, but for me I would like it to be work one day so I have to practice as much as possible. Plus, It isn't really work. I like playing exercises as much as just playing. I don't really think I'm gonna perform or anything, but I would take teaching or something any day.

At one point, it was at least six hours a day... I improved significantly, to say the least.

I stopped practicing as much now, but still spend a lot of time playing, just less of it is devoted to specifically aimed practicing.

...every now and then I spend a weekend only putting down my guitar to eat, sleep and poop, if I feel like trying out a new musical style. It can give some pretty amazing results, really.
#11
I'd say at least an hour. It's not really practice though. I just play random songs whenever I feel like it.

Depends how I feel. I might play for a few hours a day.. but I fit all my work and practice into an hour or so because my hand's been hurting if I do much more than that, so I try to fit all my scales and chord work into that time.

I practice for about an hour a day, but I adhere to my practice schedule fairly strictly so I'm quite happy with my rate of improvement thus far.
#25
If you practise for a whole day, doing practically nothing else, seriously, there may be something wrong with your social life...

For me, it would be about an hour, but I normally just jam with a backing track(s).

Wow how do you guys find time to practice like 5-6 hours on a weekday?! It's already hard finding extra time when you have school and everything!

I just do it really really early. And you could still have a social life while practicing for like 3 or 4 hours. I just wake up at 8, practice until like 10 (like I just finished now) and then at like 12 AM I practice again for like an hour or maybe 2 if I start earlier.

Well all my friends are on holiday at the moment due to it being the summer holidays so for the last three days I've been doing not much other than playing along to the Kaiser Chiefs on my guitar

Normally though I do around an hour a day. Plus the Music GCSE course has practical lessons every 2 weeks and composing lessons every week where we just sit around and practise/compose for our instruments which is really fun

It's not like people sit down and record how long they practice for, people are just giving an estimate of how much time they practice for.

If I have to work usually a 1/2 hour or less. At most when I don't have to work I play for like 1-2 hours-ish. I'm losing motivation without a band.

But, there's people that practise 6-14 hours a day! I mean, how can you have a good, decent social life with that.

Especially that bloke that's the 'fastest' in the world who played guitar 16 hours a day, that's just over the top. Anything more than 3-4 hours a day is over the top for me.

I just play when I feel like it, for as long as I like. These days, that means anything from very little (5 minutes tops a day) to some half an hour a day.

Don't know really, depends what mood im in, I might sit and play for 8 hours. Or I might play for 30 minutes, just depends on how I feel, wether in a creative mood or not.

lately about 2 hours a day (been really busy with work) but I like to get 5 and spend like half of my waking hours listening to different music.
