When ever I pluck the an open high e and at various places on that string it causes the a string to also sound. This is also true between the b string and the low e string. It is not really a problem when playing clean but when any kind of distortion is added the unplucked string can be heard and creates a lot of noise. Is there any way to stop this?

Thanks

This is a fairly normal thing. You've just got to learn to use your fretting hand, or your picking hand to mute the strings so they don't ring.
