hey, i just read somewhere that Fender mim standards began using Alder for their bodies starting from 2006

what wood were they using before that? 2003 to be exact??
its not like agathis or something is it??
I just saw a 2003 MIM Strat with an alder body............
Gibson Les Paul Studio
Yamaha Pacifica 112
Alvarez SLM
Orange Dark Terror
Orange PPC212OB 2x12 cab
Yamaha P-85 Keyboard
its alder... mine's alder and its been my dad's since 2000 maybe? then he gave it to me...
I was pretty sure they were previously Poplar.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.
