Hey pit,

I am looking for characters [heroes or villians] that were motivated by any [or any combination] for the following characteristics. Think Phantom of the Opera [book version]. Book characters or comic characters would be appreciated

- Borderline insane
- JEALOUS RAGE
- rage in general
- reclusive
- pines for companionship of some sort
- awkward
- technically skilled [in any area]
- preferably no superpowers EDIT: superpowers OK

I'm working on something, sorry for the insane question.

Dr. Jekyll because you can also argue Mr. Hyde comes with him. You might be able to use Dracula or Dorian Gray too.

I wouldn't call it a superpower but more of a trait of the character otherwise you'd have to say that a lot of those romantic era anti-heros had super powers.

Lol to stay with the theme romantic era characters you can also try Frankenstein, like the actual book monster. Very awkward, has lots of rage, and only wants a friend. Perfect.

How about Scar from The Lion King?

Severus Snape from Harry Potter
Iron Man's nemesis Mandarin
Frankenstein's monster
Maybe Captain Nemo
Anakin Skywalker
Louis XIV (and possibly his twin) in The Man in the Iron Mask
Cloak of Marvel's Cloak and Dagger (though he has a semi-super power)
Starscream from Transformers

EDIT: ^^ I considered V, but I left him out because of his superb social skills. He does fit all the other characteristics, though, so he probably deserves a mention.

EDIT2: Being a citizen of Kansas, where The Wizard of Oz is our #2 export, I can't believe I left out the Wicked Witch of the West.

First two villains that come to mine are Mr. Glass (played by Samuel L. Jackson) from Unbreakable and The Riddler from Batman

Heroes would be: the Punisher and Batman

edit: changed my answer cuz I didn't realize you said no super powers
