sounds cool. i've been playing guitar for 6 years now and i haven't done something like this but i think it would be fun. i dont know if my recording equipment would be good enough? check out my profile to see if you think my guitar sounds fine. btw are you more of a drummer or a guitarist?
#3
I could do guitar as well. Just tell me a song to play, and I'll show you what I can do.

should we wait till we get everyone we need in the band to start recording, or should we just start going at it and when we find a bassist and vocalist we'll just have them add their stuff in later? either way i'm cool with. personally i would like to start out with an avenged sevenfold song or something that has a dueling guitar kind of thing i think would be fun. whatever works out best i'm cool with.

lynch, do you want lead and i'll take rhythm?

and do you guys have AIM or MSN?
#12
i think we should just do a trade off thing like how trivium does it, because i would like to do some solos and i sure you do as well.

btw my aim is kevinkoolx <--- i know stupid name but hey i made it back in middle school

Ive updated my first post.

I think it would be good to decide on a song now, so I can start laying down the drum tracks.
By the time i've finished we hopefully should have someone keen on doing bass and a vocalist.

I think we should start off with something relatively simple to see how everything works. rom there we can move to more complicated stuff.

Start throwing out some song ideas.

Ideas:

Enter Sandman- Metallica (Cheesy I know, but a good 1st tester)
Killing in the name- RATM
Bulls on parade- RATM

I'll do bass if that's cool with you guys. I won't be able to send you guys recordings until next week though. Uhhh I've been playing for about 3 years and I'll start learning those songs asap. Also I could try vocals if we get desperate haha.

Do you think I could get in on this and mix some of those tunes? I'll make it sound real nice. I could also do some backup vocals, and extra guitars, bass, and keys.

Alright so Craig and I kinda decided that the fairest way to pick songs that everyone was happy with is to just list our ten favorite bands, pick 10 of those that everyone likes, then pick some songs from those groups. This way we have at the very least 10 songs to work with right off the bat. Here are mine:

1. Megadeth
2. Iron Maiden
3. The Grateful Dead
4. Pink Floyd
5. Led Zeppelin
6. AC/DC
7. Guns n Roses
8. Eric Clapton and all the bands he was in
9. Bob Marley
10. Pearl Jam

If you guys need another guitar player for anything let me know.

It was the only task I would undertake...

...to reap the harvest that was mine

Ok so so far we've established that we all like metal haha. Also Klynch it would be easier if you listed bands that were alike, that way we know what to do as far as covers. I've got a few song ideas from what we've gotten so far, but I'd like to wait until our other guitar player chimed in.

all we need is shiroun to post and we can get organised.

Guys check my profile. I uploaded a demo of what we can do. I spent about half an hour doing drums recording guitars and some vocals (I cant sing very well) for a cover of Kiss' "I was made for lovin you".

Have a listen and you can see what is possible with time effort and energy (more than 30 mins lol) spent on it. The song isnt really even mixed.

I'm fine with anything really. Led Zeppelin is fine, metallica too.

If we do get around to it, i'd love to do a Boys Like Girls song, I know its not the basic of our entire genre, but their songs are fun to do.

So we've pretty much all got Metallica in a list of favourites? I severyone cool with trying "Enter Sandman" first as a simple tester song?

So when I record stuff do I just send it to you(leper messiah) and you'll do the mixing and editing. Also would you prefer if I recorded stuff in sections like: verse riff, chorus riff, bridge, solo so on and so on. Or record it one take.

My email is my msn listed in this threads first post.

I will be laying down the drums, so everyone has to wait for them first so everything is recorded in time.

You dont have to record it in one take. As long as its in time to my recorded drums I can cut and paste the different guitar tracks into the right areas.

Imagine trying to record 4 minutes of song with no mistakes lol.

Once i've layed down the drum track I will send it out. If our bassist is ready to record I will get him to add the bass and then send both of you guitarists the drums and bass to record over. Once you've finished you send your recordings back to me.

Ideally it should go:

Drums
Drums + Bass
Drums + Bass + Rhythm
Drums + Bass + Ryhthym + Lead
Drums + Bass + Ryhthym + Lead + Vocals
Mixing.
