I've been looking to downgrade to a lighter amp with less watts.

I just need something that could work at small-medium gigs, clubs and church shows mainly.

Though the catch is I need enough watts to compete with my really loud metal drummer I jam with on the weekends.

I also want something with enough watts so that it isn't too distorted, I do need my cleans for jazz and ambiance stuff every once and a while.

So what do you guys think?

How many watts can I get away with on a class A or class A/B amp?

Is 15 watts class A or 30 watts class A/B fine?

Also by the way, I'm going to be running it through a single 12" speaker.

15 Watts Class A is pretty loud, but it may not be loud enough in your case. 30 should be fine.

What about an AC30?

Im not sure about your weekends though haha.

Great cleans, amazing clean i say. Great for Blues and its very very ambient.

You can overdrive it alot i find.

Its great with pedals also.

Yeah, 30w tubes seem to be the way to go in your situation.
