Pink Floyd is Pink Floyd.

It cannot be contained by a genre, because their music simply spills out in so many directions.

Progressive isn't a genre, it's an adjective. So, progressive rock. Early stuff was more psychedelic rock.

Space rock? Jesus there are too many subgenres. I know a lot of people disagree with putting bands into genres, but I think that's fine. However, when you start making subgenres of subgenres and subgenres of subgenres of subgenres I start to have a problem.

But I'd say progressive rock.
The first question I ask myself when something doesn't seem to be beautiful is why do I think it's not beautiful. And very shortly you discover that there is no reason.-John Cage

Their first few years (in my opinion, their best and most creative years) contained elements of Acid Rock, Acid Pop, and Space Rock. Then after the Syd Barrett era, they became more progressive and mellow.
