I just got my first electric guitar after playing acoustic for a year and a half. I don't have that much money so I bought my guitar in june, and finally have some money for an amp. I've been playing on my friends crappy old amp and I hate it. I was thinking about buying a Roland Cube 20x, but I read that you can't use effects pedals with it. I think that would turn into a problem in the long run. So I am asking you guys, what is a good amp for under 200 dollars? I plan on buying a metal muff in the next month. I play mostly hardcore, metal, progressive(like between the buried and me), and stuff with distortion. Any help would be appreciated

Cheers

Just stay away from line 6 spiders and Marshall MG's. Terrible amps, trust me.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.
