Same thing you'd look in a new guitar. Only advice is to look for any defects/damage and that should help you get some bucks bumped down from it.

Heck, i got an '06 fender tele mim for $275 cuz it had two small chips on the paintjob. Originally it was 300, and even then it was kinda low.
