i need to choose a class and im not sure if im ready for c++
i know some html that i took in high school but i forgot alot of it im pretty good with computers overall but not alot of experience besides html in the programming aspect

how hard is C++? is it like html that you memorize tags or is it more complex and hard as hell

this is the class and the description
COP1334C which is introduction to C++
http://www.broward.edu/ext/Coursedetail.jsp?ccn=COP1334C

any help is appreciated
my guitar stuff:
ESP JH-600
ValveKing 112
DigiTech Whammy Pedal
Taylor 314CE
Dunlop SW-95 Slash Wah Pedal
Cordoba C7 Nylon String Acoustic Guitar
Metal muff
Fender American Deluxe Stratocaster Ash

C++ is actually a fairly simple language to learn. As with all programming languages, there will be a lot of memorization involved. However, it's all very easy to remember.

It's going to be a LOT different from HTML. There's practically no similarity between the two. In C++ you're going to be doing a lot of serious programs, although you'll probably just start out with "Hello World."

Anyways, C++ is a great language to learn and if you plan on taking a job as a computer software engineer, then it's absolutely necessary, after assembly of course.
Signature? What's a signature?

No!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best theory lesson EVER!

I've only done bits and bobs, but it's pretty complex.

I'd start off with something easy (BASIC, Visual BASIC, etc.) and then work your way up.

Everyone is trying a comeback now. Metallica, Smashing Pumpkins, Rage, and now bin Laden? Come on. Give it a rest..

it isn't really much harder than any other programming language

programming is nothing like HTML
in fact, HTML isn't programming at all...its just making text look pretty
it involves a completely new of thinking

the part that says
"Stuents who do not possess computer programming experience are strongly encouraged to complete COP1000C (Introduction to Computer Programming) before attempting this course. "
might be a good suggestion if you've never programmed before (though if you have a basic idea of variables and if statements and for loops you might be able to jump in...)

I hated those lessons.

haha i remember that "hello world" project we had to do...

Everything we did in my class we had to like copy out of the book. I ****in HATED that class so much me and my friend would just play games. Towards the end i did really try but i still didnt get it. I did the best i could though and the teacher passed me but still. Its almost nothing like/ is way harder than html

One of my friends said to the principle once,
"NO! The voices tell me not to talk to you!" *Runs away on all fours*
The principle eventually caught up to him and gave him a drug test.

I found an old little kids computer (those ones with the little b/w screens) and it came with basic. What kind of toddler uses BASIC?

if it's an introductory course, it should be relatively easy, and similar to other programming languages (Java,C,C#).

C++ could get really confusing later on in intermediate/advanced stages (when they talk about pointers and recurssion), which is why it is considered a lot harder than say, Java. if it's intro, not too much harder i would imagine.

i dont know if that class counts toward my degree the advisor recomended me cGS1060C which is basically computer class for stupid people so i asked him if he had another option and he gave me introduction to C++ as my other option

heres the link of the other class http://www.broward.edu/ext/Coursedetail.jsp?ccn=CGS1060C&Name=2

this is the description for cop1000c
http://www.broward.edu/ext/Coursedetail.jsp?ccn=COP1000C

i have no idea about variables and loops the only thing i know about loops is when putting a loop in sound in html by using this code

<EMBED
SRC="../graphics/sounds/helloo.wav"
LOOP=FALSE
HEIGHT=60 WIDTH=144
>

could you guys type some code of c++ or send me a link to check it out? to see how hard it is

nope, loops are an entirely different thing in programming

maybe just glance over this: http://www.howstuffworks.com/c.htm
its for C but it'll introduce you to some programming concepts (and it turns out most valid C code is also valid C++ code)

edit: javascript would be a good way just to get the hang of some basic concepts

C++ is very easy until you get into OOP (classes, objects) and using arrays or pointers for example...personally I find that once you start programming in Windows (e.g. Win32 app) it gets hard... its a pain in the nuts (I hate the hungarian notation)...but if you keep at it Im sure you wont have a very hard time learning it
