Has anyone seen this movie? I just saw it and it scared my ****less

I just wanted to talk about it, cos i was a bit confused about the ending, so yeah, anyone got any explanations or theories?

I'm talking about the movie, not the book just to clarify.

It reminded me of Bottom, the show with Rik Mayall. Stuff like when he jams his hand in the window etc. Was half expecting him to put his hand on a boiling kettle.

None of it really scared me, but I loved the movie.

I wasn't expecting much, to start with, but I was interested enough to give it a chance, and I liked it overall.

The ending was just great, and the alternate ending was even better.

in a couple reviews i read people said they thought the ending was really disapointing and i failed to see that so i guess i was just curious about what other people thought.

im guessing the tape signified that the room was real, but was there an explanation of why the room was crazy and evil or what is just... evil?

He set the room on fire, allowing him to get out. And that movie was awful, not scary at all.

Remember the part where the hotel said, "Even if you escape, you won't really escape."? Well, that's basically it. He got out of the phsyical room, but he'll be forever haunted by the memory of what happened there, especially the loss of his daughter a second time.
Anyone know if the short story it's based off of is titled "1408" as well?

It wasn't scary in the slightest

Seriously, whenever that blasted alarm went off again, I literally laughed out loud. This is no lie.

it wasnt scary, it was kinda stupid.....ok it was really stupid...

Help! Help! Theres a miniature Samuel L. Jackoff in my freezer!!!

ahhhh the walls bleed..i think ill burn my room..

....dumb movie...

Edit: i was watching it at my friends house once around halloween, and they had these little scarecrow children setup for decorations or watever.. and you could pop the heads off the little scarecrows....In conclusion, Throwing grapefruit sized scarecrow heads at people during the middle of a "scary" movie will usually bring entertaining results.

I know this girl who said it was so fucking lame!

And I have to do SIZE=2 OPTION for this becoz it is!

This is what happens in the end of 1408. He sets the room on fire and the ghosts die? That's like watching Nanny McPhee

[PS: I was 13 when I watched it and it was lame... not even Stephen King material]

I liked Snakes on a plane even better..

"I HAD IT WITH THESE MOTHERF*CKING SNAKES ON THIS MOTHERF*KIN PLANE!"

I would give it a 0.1 out of 100 [1408]

its not from the 80s. it came out right before snakes on a plane, its with these whole series of B-movies, that come out right before or right after a big picture, with a similar plot and set of characters

The moment I saw Samuel L. Jackson's name on the screen I knew the movie would not be scary. Luckily, my girlfriend was with me and she gets scared over everything, so I still enjoyed it.
#26
It only had some scary parts, like when he looks out the window and he sees himself.
The ending means that the room still has power and keeps messing up with people. Or that's what I read.

Which ending?

In the original ending (seen in Director's Cut version) the guy burns the room with him in it, and dies. At his funeral, Samuel L. Mother****ing Jackson arrives to give dead guy's wife a box of his recovered belongings, including the tape recorder. Jackson then sees mutilated dead guy in car, and freaks out. Guy is seen in burnt remains of hotel room, as a ghost.

In the other ending, guy survives, goes home, reconnects with wife who doesn't believe him, plays the tape recorder, and hears (to his wife's surprise) the voice of their dead daughter, proving that it all happened.

What were you confused about?

In the movie it said something about an answer being in the walls or something that could be interpreted as similar to that, and then when the walls were crumbling it said, "Burn Me Alive."

Or something like that. I don't remember too well.. I liked it, though.

The ending was just great, and the alternate ending was even better.

If you rent it at blockbuster I read there are two more alternate endings. I've read descriptions of both and they both suck for different reasons.

Yes, it's in the book 'Everything's Eventual'. In it he has no daughter or anything.
