So I've been wondering which way is the best the improve my speed, to actually set the metronome speed at my limit where I can barely keep up (without any mistakes,) or actually set it at a slower tempo where I can play relaxed and ease? I actually heard different advise about this, so I wonder which one is the most effective

i like to slow what i'm practicing down to where i can play it perfectly (practice it a few times there), then go up by 2 or so to make me have to concentrate a bit more, then when i got that down continue on till full speed
