Is it possible to get a professional or near professional sounding recording through a presonus firepod, cubase and some mixing (I know mics and all that other stuff matter too but still)? If not what type of interface could get a professional sound?

I hate seeing cute girls topless and what not, it just feels wrong.
Sure you can get great sound with that gear however you have to know how to use the program and hardware to get the most out of it. This can take years to learn which is what studio engineers are doing all the time.
It's more about technique than equipment. Professional sounds come with stratospheric levels of money. I would recommend, though, getting a mastering plugin...iZotope's Ozone is the best value and used by professionals.
