What are BADASS metal/hard rock riffs that sound good you NEED to know.
(when you're an intermediate player)
like
master of puppets intro and parts of song, search and destroy - metalica
intro to laid to rest - lamb of god
outro of war pigs, whole song iron man - ozzy
the metal - tenacious D

along that line

I'm having trouble finding some good riffs

I can't honestly be bothered to point out specific riffs but Megadeth are a great source for riffs of all levels. So are Opeth, pantera, Iron maiden aswell. Basically every Maiden song will have a riff for you, it's a matter of listening out till you hear something that makes you just go 'Holy **** i must play that'. If you want riffs look to the people who do it best. Not to mention some of the newer bands like Bodom aswell. Have fun.

Opeth is always a good source for intermediate riffs, and they've got stuff from all different styles/speeds as well. I'd personally suggest The Leper Affinity off of Blackwater Park, but I've always been partial to that one.

id say acid rain by liquid tension experiment/ dream theater

the riffs in synaptic plasticity - blotted science

dark eternal night - dream theater

the riff in wonderful slippery thing - guthrie govan

damage control - john petrucci

inferno - symphony x (actually they have a HELL of a lot of good riffs!!!)

Lots of Killswitch Engage Riffs are awesome. Try their cover of Holy Diver (voted best riff by Guitar World), My Curse, etc. Good pinch harmonics.

Also Hourglass by Lamb of God. The 'Vomit' riff sounds freakin awesome and can impress most. It takes a little practice, but thats what they made metronomes for.

Bullet for My Valentine - 'Hand of Blood' is good as well. Not very hard at all.

I'm assuming you're mostly into metal/x-core stuff. But w/e

Slayer have a few kickass riffs, especially off the Seasons In The Abyss album (and Reign In Blood of course)
